Marriotts Lincolnshire Resort, Cranes's Landing Golf Course, is an open to the public Resort 18 holes golf course located in Lincolnshire, Illinois.
Cranes's Landing Golf Course first opened for play in 1975. The course was designed by George Fazio.
This short, yet challenging course was built on fairly flat terrain. Water hazards come into play on at least sixteen different occasions. The signature hole is #16, a 215-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot to an island green surrounded by water. This course has enough water, sand and trees to keep you concentrating on your game. This classic style golf course has four Par 3's, twelve Par 4's and two Par 5's. The par 70 layout is spread over 110 acres of beautiful woodlands and scenic vistas that overlook the Des Plaines River. Displaying twenty-nine sand bunkers and six beautiful lakes on the course, tight fairways, and medium-sized putting greens, it is a fair yet challenging test of golf. Four sets of tee complexes allow golfers of all skill levels to enjoy the challenge posed by this classic layout.
Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6313 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4892 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 17, a par-5 that plays to 517 Yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 9, a par-3 that plays to 154 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 18, a 447 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 6, a 158 yard par-3.

This is flat, basic golf course. It is in nice condition, and was nice to play, just nothing memorable. The pricing is very confusing. For example, The internet shows $65 for a tee time of 1;10, but then shows a $35 rate for 1:20, and back to $65 at 1:50. A call to the course gets a quote of $65 for the 1:20 time, but I was told if I made a reservation over the internet I could get the $35 rate. Very confusing. The staff isn't that friendly. Not rude, just not friendly. We weren't given a key to our cart, and were held back at the club house until the group in front of us teed off. It is attached to a Marriott hotel and dinner theater. This is a nice week-end getaway destination. Golf during the day, theater at night.

This is a tale of two courses - the front and back sides are completely different. The front side is short, and fairly benign. Keep it near the fairways , and you'll score. The back side is EXPONENTIALLY more difficult. And they've tricked it up in the last few years by tightening several fairways, and adding "Environmentally protected" hazards in between several holes in areas that were previously used to bail out! There are four (FOUR!) par 4's on that back that stretch over 420 yds each. Three of these are over 440yds. The par three's are 185, and 205 yds. The lone par 5 is a 517 yd dogleg left, and the entirety of the left side is now an "Environmentally protected" hazard. Whoever thought the course would be improved by these changes is out of their mind.

The course is well maintained and managed. The price is a little high but I would recommend.
